As a founding partner of Albert Matthews, Kent Amo is a seasoned attorney dedicated to helping clients throughout Florida navigate challenges in family law, real estate and title insurance, as well as civil litigation. Kent is qualified as an arbitrator and has previously served as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator and Family Mediator; most recently serving as a Special Master by court appointment.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Kent relocated across the country to Miami, Florida, where he earned his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University College of Law  while serving as Executive Editor of the St. Thomas Law Review. During law school, he also represented the student body to the American Bar Association while gaining valuable experience clerking for both personal injury and insurance defense firms in Broward and Miami-Dade County. 

Before entering private practice, Kent served as a Trial Court Staff Attorney and Mediation Services Coordinator for Florida’s Twentieth Judicial Circuit. In these roles, he worked closely with judges on complex criminal and civil matters, giving him a unique behind-the-scenes understanding of the judicial system and courtroom process. 

Kent later founded his own law office where he focused on assisting clients with divorce and family law cases, civil litigation matters, served as a private mediator, and providedreal estate-related services. Throughout his career, he has provided thoughtful legal strategies, responsive communication, and practical solutions tailored to each client’s goals.

Clients appreciate Kent’s calm demeanor, analytical approach, and ability to guide them through emotionally and financially complex situations. Not to be underestimated, Kent is a skilled trial attorney with a keen ability to present complicated theories in easy-to-understand ways for his clients to have a great chance of success when a hearing or trial is necessary to resolve a legal dispute.

Kent remains active in the community in charitable and professional organizations throughout Southwest Florida. When not in the office, Kent prefers adventure, including scuba diving,snow skiing, riding motorcycles, and spending time with family and friends.
